The Moerdijk Railway Bridge is the longest railway bridge in the Netherlands. It spans the borders of the Hollands Diep.
It is the first obstacle the traveler has to take when travelling from the south to the Randstad, the economic heart of the Netherlands.
The trafic on the bridge is very dense.
The second obstacle the north-bound trains have to conquer is the Dordtse Kil. Here another railway bridge helps to solve the problem.
It is a lift bridge, that can be passed by large ships on the busy waterway.
In Rotterdam finally, the old railway bridge can remain in the 'high' position since trains nowadays cross the river Maas in a tunnel.
